About us
Digital Bridge for Development Association (DBD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Established in accordance with Law No. 90/053 of 19 December 1990 governing freedom of association in Cameroon, DBD works to promote digital inclusion, education, and socio-economic development.
Operating at both national and regional levels, including across Central Africa, DBD builds sustainable digital bridges that connect communities to knowledge, opportunities, and innovations.
Our general objective:
To bridge the digital divide in Cameroon by developing sustainable, community-driven connectivity infrastructure and digital literacy programs.
Our specific objectives
1. Expand broadband access in underserved urban and rural communities through renewable-energy-powered infrastructure.
2. Promote digital literacy and provide ICT training for youth, women, and small entrepreneurs to stimulate innovation and job creation.
3. Establish community telecentres and innovation hubs that serve as gateways for education, e-health, e-agriculture, and entrepreneurship.
4. Encourage local ownership by creating digital cooperatives for managing telecentres and broadband nodes.
5. Facilitate partnerships with government agencies, private ISPs, and development partners to enhance connectivity and infrastructure investment.
6. Promote renewable energy use in ICT systems to reduce environmental impact and operational costs.
7. Develop policy advocacy for digital inclusion, Internet affordability, and community-based connectivity frameworks.
8. Replicate successful models across Central Africa to strengthen regional digital integration and economic cooperation.
